The future is not a choice between one kind of monopoly and another: it's a choice between monopoly and anti-monopoly. The choice between surveillance and walled gardens is no choice at all (and, in the case of Facebook, you get two horrors for the price of one).
Now I'm thinking of a BDSM party called "Your Body My Rules".
Becoming illegible to algorithms
Evading imperial cognitive appendages
We should stop with left and right false binary.
The real binary is between those who want protect and expand the concept of humanity, and those who want to shrink it.
a) algorithms accelerate bias because trapped in a positive feedback loop with society and its use should be discouraged.
b) algorithms were weaponized by ethno-nationalist groups and its use should be discouraged.

I might have found a #CoC I like.
Not because of the #CodeOfConduct's text, but because (at a first glance) the community it rules does not have anything to sell, thus the leaders have nothing to gain or lose in enforcing these rules.
I wouldn't expect that rules to forge homogeneous US-workspace-like community devoted to group think, because the are not committed to a goal, a product to market.
I don't know if they'd like me, but for sure I like their Weltanschauung.
Here's a good example for something that's perfectly acceptable according to CoCs, but is the opposite of kind communication: https://blog.emacsen.net/blog/2018/10/19/gkcg-is-bad/
